Years with Securitas:

2007 - present: Dog handler
Current duties: My job entails patrolling the grounds and buildings with my dog, preventing sabotage, fires, terrorism and espionage, and deterring intrusion by unauthorized persons. Since I’m armed, firing practice is mandatory. Training my dog is also part of my job
Topics studied and location: Dog handling/training in the Netherlands
Why did you apply for the Melker Schörling Scholarship?
I wanted to learn more about Securitas as a company and especially about how dog handlers in other countries work. I wanted to find out if and how their jobs differed from the way we do things in Sweden and how they trained their dogs.
Has this experience changed you or your job situation in any way?
Yes, it has. I’ve learned a lot and it was a real energy boost. I’ve become a better dog handler, learned more about Securitas and I’ve set my goals higher. I now want to become a manager so that I can better utilize what I’ve learned and make a difference at the company.
Would you recommend the scholarship to others, and if so, why?
Definitely. It’s a great way to not only learn more about the company but also to grow as a person. Knowledge is an easy burden to bear. And as a big bonus, you make friends for life. I cannot thank my Dutch colleagues enough for everything they’ve done. I had a very educational week and met so many kind and friendly people. I simply had a great time.
