Securitas monitoring helps cut crime for Warrington stockholder

A leading metals and plastics supplier in Warrington had increasingly become a target for opportunistic crime - with the help of Securitas Alert Services who provide a full out of hours CCTV monitoring for all 5 of Righton’s sites. The system was installed by Xcel Security who used Redwall V detectors as Gary Killiner explains: as far as false alarms are concerned we are always happy to work with companies to reduce this and we see this as a significant step forward in reducing false activations by using the new detectors.”

Securitas Alert Services monitor 5 Righton sites already and with the prices of metals rocketing, and stockholders increasingly becoming targets for opportunistic crime, one Warrington-based business, Righton, has turned to sophisticated detection to help cut crime and reduce false alarms.

Having recognised the need, Gary Davies, Operations Director at Righton, called in three experts with whom he had worked successfully before: Dale Jones of Optex Europe, to provide four Redwall V detectors; Gary Killiner of Securitas Alert Services to monitor the system remotely via its Remote Video Response Centre (RVRC) and Neil Fearns of Xcel Fire and Security to supply and install the CCTV

The need was for effective CCTV with maximum detection rates but mininum false alarms, a need that led Gary and the team to opt for REDWALL Vs:  The detector’s improved electronics along with thermo and light sensors significantly reduce false alarms with no loss in capture rate,” Gary explains. “This in turn improves efficiency at Securitas Alert Services since time is not being wasted on false errands and the costs associated with managing false alarms is dramatically reduced.

“Since the installation of the new Redwall V detectors we are seeing a reduction in the number of false activations by around the 75% mark, which is impressive.

The detectors were also chosen because of their aesthetic appeal: “they are very much in keeping with the modern design of the building, complementing our corporate colours,” Gary adds.

The all-new design of the detectors includes improved mounting height options of 4m down to 2.3m, a 3 axis-accelerometer to warn of tampering/accidental reorientation and active infra anti-mask for maximum detector integrity. Any attempt to tamper with or mask the detectors triggers an instant alarm to the RVRC.

Neil Fearns from Xcel has also worked with Righton, Optex and Securitas Alert Services for many years: “We specialise in installing and maintaining CCTV in commercial and industrial applications, so it was a natural extension of the previous sites we have worked on with this team, and all went very smoothly.  We all worked well together.

“From an installer’s perspective, we found the Redwall V detectors easy to install, and very robust.”

Righton has been associated with the supply of quality semi-finished products for almost 100 years. Originally a stockholder of copper and copper alloys, Righton has successfully developed its range to become the UK's leading supplier of brass, copper, aluminium, stainless steel, high integrity alloys, industrial plastics and aluminium composite material to industry.
