Seaports are security-sensitive and highly complex organisms. Based on the experience of 9/11 – in addition to the general security conditions – port operators and shipowners in overseas traffic must now meet the comprehensive security regulations according to the international ISPS Code (International Ship and Port Facility Security), which have been in force since 2004.
SECURITAS was the first security service provider to receive “RSO“-certification (Recognized Security Organization) for all German Federal States with deep sea ports. SECURITAS secures e.g. the container and cruise terminals on the North and Baltic Sea. The scope of duties includes risk analyses, the development of hazard prevention plans, the protection of terminal areas and passenger handling. All these tasks are carried out by our specifically trained and qualified staff.
At the request of the customer, SECURITAS provides the required safety technology, trains the terminal staff according to the ISPS Code and provides gangway and on-board guards for seagoing vessels.
The safe handling of cruise liners at the Hamburg Cruise Center is one of the demanding and fascinating tasks performed by SECURITAS. Depending on the size of the ships, up to 25 SECURITAS employees ensure smooth boarding of the passengers.
