DV Construction takes care of its construction-site security in France
DV Construction, a regional subsidiary of Bouygues Construction, has appointed Securitas to run its stringent system for controlling access to its building site and ensuring the security of its staff.
"This site is currently the largest hospital construction site in France and joins together two existing sites over an area of 220,000 m²," explains Cyril Bergerault, Head of the logistics and general services team at DV Construction.
The main security task is to prevent illegal workers from entering the site by checking each of the approximately 1,000 workers that arrive each day. The second task is to protect the health and security of DV Construction staff.
The Securitas security officers monitor pedestrian and vehicle access to the site at the two security posts between 6:00 and 21:00. A biometric badge system is used to ensure that only authorized persons and vehicles are permitted to enter the site. The security officers also coordinate the movements of the approximately 180 lorries that enter and leave the site every day, in order to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and to avoid accidents.
A Flexible Security System
The security officers are also responsible for informing everyone on-site of the risks associated with the work and reminding them, at regular intervals, of the importance of following safety instructions, including the need to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
"We chose Securitas for its expertise and its versatile and well-turned out security officers. We also know that we can count on Securitas to respond quickly to our changing security requirements as we move through the different construction phases – whether they be one-off alterations or more permanent changes," explains Cyril Bergerault.
