High Risks in Fos-sur-Mer, France

In Fos-sur-Mer, the company Arkema produces and transforms specifics materials (PVC, Chlorine…) in order to supply chemicals products to industrials paper-makers and washers. Products are transferred to others industrials sites by boats, trucks, and pipelines too.

“Our mission consists to apply our risk management policy in our big site classed “Seveso 2” (high risks regulations) and we must be vigilant all the time. We have twenty Securitas guards to maintain a high security level”, explain Patrick Grimaldi, Manager for environment security and safety at Arkema Fos-sur-Mer.

Tailor-Made Solutions

Securitas guards provide safety every day, days and nights: access control, intrusion, patrols, guarding for buildings and fences on 180 hectare area. Guards at the security room at the entrance checks employees, subcontractors, visitors, and dangerous materials delivers. Since 2006, more than 4,800 deliveries and 42,000 vehicles have been examined by Securitas. At day time, a guard and a supervisor check vehicles very often.

“Since 2006, controls on dangerous materials are part of Securitas missions: trucks control and security rules respect. Our guards control also visitors and employees”, specify Thierry Béliard, Securitas high risks Branch Manager.

For internal operation plans, the Securitas guards operate the emergency process: they pratice in real conditions and are trained to act in case of leak of toxic gaze or fire.
