Irish Security Standard PSA 28:2013 leads to a better Security Industry in Ireland

Securitas Ireland Management staff formed 66% of the employer consultative committee that was formed by the Security Institute of Ireland that would sit and offer advice from an operational viewpoint at the formulation meetings for the new standard for the security industry that was being created by the Private Security Authority (PSA).

PSA 28:2013

Getting this standard right was a big task as the previous standard was IS 999 (2004) and this standard had fallen behind the times as regards being operationally relevant, as the new standard would have a minimum lifetime of potentially 8 years.

It was important that the new standard would be updated and reflect were we are today as well as be future proofed for the next 8 years, other interested parties had their inputs, it was important that the new standard could be adapted by all Security companies and not just the major indigenous and international companies, but all companies, from the one person operation to the operations with thousands of employees.

Security Standards

Eventually the new standard (PSA 28:2013) was arrived at and agreed and the new standard for the Security Industry in the Republic of Ireland was launched and become the standard for which all Security companies will be audited to and from which they will receive their licence to operate from the PSA as a security company in Ireland.
