National Award Winner

| 1 July 2008

A brave security officer has won a national "Outstanding Act" award in the British Security Industry Association's Annual Security Officer Awards 2008. The award was given for the officer's selfless actions when he was faced with a man threatening to set the premises where he was on duty alight.

Mark Taylor, works for Securitas and has won the award for his work on the customer's site at Moss side, Manchester. He remained calm and level headed when a member of the public walked into the building with a full petrol can and a lighter and started to pour the petrol around and then lit up a cigarette. Having evacuated the area and called the Police, Mark then calmed the customer down and eventually persuaded him to surrender the petrol can and lighter. The man was duly arrested.

Mark was presented with his award by Home Office Minster Vernon Coaker, MP, at the Association's annual luncheon at the London Hilton.
