Interview with Amber

Why did you apply for the scholarship?

I applied for this scholarship because it seemed like an opportunity to see One Securitas in action. I teach many leadership courses and often talk about being part of something bigger than our individual sites. This felt like a chance to experience that firsthand, build new networks, and learn how other areas approach training and development, particularly within healthcare security.

What did you learn/gain from the study visit?

Seeing how Germany trains its security professionals was a very interesting experience. Learning about the requirements, training programs, and overall approach gave me valuable new perspectives.

I especially enjoyed learning from the local Training and Development team and seeing the importance placed on employee onboarding and development. As we continue to improve our own programs, it was helpful to see how another market approaches these areas.

I also found it interesting to learn about healthcare security in a different cultural and operational environment. Seeing how teams approach challenges and support customers in different ways broadened my perspective and provided ideas that could be adapted within my own area.

Most of all, the visit reinforced the value of learning from colleagues across the organization and seeing the many ways Securitas supports customers around the world.

How will you share this knowledge/experience with your organization?

I am excited to share this experience! While not everything can be applied directly, many of the ideas and approaches can help inform our own development efforts.

I plan to continue discussions with colleagues I met during the visit and explore ways to strengthen our onboarding and training programs. I have already shared some of my observations with colleagues and customers, and I look forward to continuing those conversations and exchanging best practices across the organization.
