Leon Stolp

Picture of Leon Stolp, Scholar of 2014Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands

Years with Securitas: Since 2008

My current role: Site supervisor and management liaison.

Topic studied and where: Risk-based security management at a client site in the manufacturing segment in the UK.

Why did you apply for the Scholarship?

I am interested in Risk & Security Management and wanted to know how Securitas practices it in the UK.  I had just finished training with our operational director in the Netherlands and recognized many themes and similarities between our ambitions and challenges in the Netherlands and in the UK.

What did you learn/gain from the study visit?

What I gained was an insight in risk-based security management. I learned how to turn difficult and struggling contracts around with a business development model. The model is based on years of evidence-based research and includes evidence-based ‘field research’ to understand a client’s risk profile. Many functions such as sales, account management, project delivery and operational security officers all need to be on the same page and the benefits you get when including all aspects of security management into a single risk management effort will give greater value for our clients.

How will you share this knowledge/ experience within your organization?

My branch manager has invited me to share my gained insights within our local organization. On a local operational level, we are already re-thinking how to write instructions and do reporting based on risk-based and evidence-based security management. The model for risk-based security management is a perfect fit with our global and local strategy to add value to our clients.
