"I feel this is external recognition for what we, as a team, have achieved so far and for all the hard work we are doing together to drive, enable, and support Securitas strategy execution. It is truly a team effort, and I share this award with my entire team,” says Martin.

Martin was one of 5 nominated CIOs from different companies. The other nominees include CIOs from a consultancy firm, a bank, a hygiene product company, and a municipality. The broad range of nominees spoke to importance of innovation and technology in all markets.

The jury’s motivation for the award was: “The CIO of the Year 2021 is a curious and visionary leader, who has an extraordinary ability to engage and convince both co-workers and management about the necessity of new technology and new ideas. Focusing on the business, this leader strikes a balance between transformation and innovation, modernization of existing business and brand new business opportunities. The CIO of the Year is a driving force in taking a critical and topical industry in society from low-tech to high-tech and breaks new ground beyond the traditional CIO role.”

“This is recognition of the exciting journey Securitas is on to transform the industry and establish us as the undisputable leader in Intelligent Protective Services,” continues Martin. “Because we see things differently, we see potential. What I am most proud of is our evolution and our execution capability as a company, especially during challenging times. Five years ago, everything was local in Securitas. The technology was old and we had mostly analog and highly manual processes. Today, we have established a digital collaboration platform for all employees and partners, rolled out a modern CRM platform in 41 countries, modernized ERP for more than half of the Group’s turnover, and significantly improved our cyber security posture. At the same time, we are upgrading the support to our security officers from pen and paper to digital tools, making their lives easier and our clients safer.”

“Finally – I can’t emphasize this enough – this is a team effort. It always is, but in a massive company such as Securitas, one individual cannot accomplish much on his own. I have a team of fantastic people around me – THANK YOU!”
