Fostering a culture of inclusion and innovation at Securitas

Discover how frameworks, initiatives, and partnerships are helping Securitas foster an inclusive workplace where innovation thrives.

4 min read

Diversity is a driving force behind our business growth at Securitas. It fuels our innovation and is integral to helping us create an inclusive culture.

In our previous blog, we explored how embracing diversity fuels creativity, challenges norms, and ultimately helps lead to ground-breaking ideas. But fostering a culture of inclusion and innovation is more than just rhetoric – it's a tangible commitment that’s central to our business strategy.

In this blog, we'll take you through the frameworks, initiatives, and partnerships that are helping us create a workplace where individuals feel valued, heard, and empowered to contribute their unique ideas – and, in turn, where innovation thrives.

Leadership Framework

One of the cornerstones of our diversity journey is the Leadership Framework. We've developed this framework and associated training programs to ensure that everyone at a management level understands the pivotal role diversity plays in fostering a culture of inclusion and innovation. These programs empower our leaders with the knowledge and skills to lead diverse teams effectively.

Global Disability Business Network

Starting in 2024, Securitas is connecting with the International Labour Organization's (ILO) Global Disability Business Network (GDBN). The GDBN is a network of companies that work together to create a global workforce culture that is respectful and welcoming of people with disabilities.

Diversity and inclusion (D&I) specialists and ambassadors

Across the company, we have about 25 D&I specialists from various roles and functions who are responsible for working closely with country presidents and HR directors to create action plans. They undergo specialized training to drive diversity and inclusion effectively within their respective regions.

Inclusive recruitment practices

We're in the process of reimagining our recruitment practices. By implementing blind screenings and revising job descriptions to incorporate neutral and inclusive language, we're working to remove unintentional barriers that could deter talent. For example, we've employed a gender decoder tool to help ensure our job descriptions do not perpetuate unconscious biases or expectations. We’re also changing how we promote job openings internally to encourage career development within our diverse community of frontline employees.

Business and employee resource groups

Business and employee resource groups (BRGs/ERGs) play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of innovation and inclusion by creating spaces for employees from diverse backgrounds to collaborate, exchange ideas, and celebrate their unique perspectives. These groups organize events, sponsor influential speakers, and host activities that not only enhance knowledge but also promote empathy and deeper appreciation of the unique experiences within our organization.

Client collaboration

Our sustainability strategy includes a robust focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. What sets our approach apart is the central role our clients play in shaping this plan. By working closely with our global clients, we create meaningful partnerships and jointly strive for sustainable services.

As we navigate the path to a more diverse workforce, these initiatives all play significant roles in shaping our culture and strategy. They not only help create an environment where employees feel valued, heard, and empowered to contribute, but they also enrich our workplace with the power of diverse perspectives, ultimately fostering innovation.

The journey continues, and we remain committed to shaping a brighter and more innovative future by embracing the authentic voices of our diverse workforce, recognizing that diversity isn't just a goal but an integral part of our culture and success.
